Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great honour and pleasure for me to invite you cordially to participate in the 10th BDSHC which will be held on September 3 – 6, 2003, at the Vienna University of Technology.

This series of symposia has been initiated in 1991 by our Institute as a bilateral meeting together with the Organic Chemistry Institute of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava to establish scientific contacts to the Eastern European countries after the removal of the iron curtain. The idea fell on fertile ground, more of the eastern neighbours joined and in the meantime the meeting is alternately organized by universities from Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovak Republic, and Slovenia.

Today the BDSHC is an important meeting place for some 300-400 researchers from East and West and offers the participants an occasion to get together with renowned international scientist as well as to attend outstanding plenary lectures. One of the most important missions from our Austrian standpoint of view is, to provide an excellent scientific program as well as an affordable access for (above all young) scientists from reform countries – providing a very reasonable Blue Danube registration package.

I look forward to seeing you in Vienna.

Sincerely,

Fritz Sauter
Chairman of 10th BDSHC
